The Mimic Surgeonfish (Acanthurus pyroferus) is a tropical fish species that belongs to the Surgeonfishes family Acanthuridae. It is known to occur in the warm waters of the western Pacific ocean and can be found along the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. The common name from this species is derived from the fact that juveniles mimic angelfishes in the Centropyge genus as these little angelfishes are secretive and therefore preators learn not to hunt them. Adults can be recognised by their balck body with orange/yellow markings around the face and a thin yellow band around the tail fin. The Mimic Surgeonfish (Acanthurus pyroferus) grows to a maximum length of approximately 25 cm.
